Kayhan Gültekin
I am an assistant professor at the University of Michigan, Department of Astronomy since January 2016. My research covers many areas of black hole astrophysics, both observational and theoretical. I have spent a lot of time studying the relation between supermassive black holes and their host galaxies. Lately, I have been focussing on pairs of supermassive black holes, wether gravitationally bound (and thus binary black holes) or unbound (and possibly observable as dual active galactic nuclei). I am especially excited about gravitational wave astrophysics and synergies with electromagnetic astrophysics.
Observationally, I am multiwavelength, having experience in cm-radio, mm, near infrared, optical, ultraviolet, and X-ray observations. Theoretically, I gravitate to numerical simulations and statistical techniques. I love a good scientific visualization and have probably spent too much time tweaking my own to get them juuust right. I also spend a lot of time thinking about typography. Do you know whether ApJ uses Times or Times New Roman? I do.
